The Gatherings Providing a Home for Creative People
This month is International Creativity Month, a time to celebrate creativity in all its forms and at all levels, whether leisurely or professionally, communally or solo. But when it comes to the professional world, working as a professional creative can be a surprisingly lonely pursuit.

Despite almost every industry having some form of reliance on the new ideas and innovations brought by designers, illustrators, inventors, and the like, creative people themselves are often either left to their own devices to work their magic, or expected to live a freelance life. It can very easily leave people feeling like outsiders sitting beyond the community of the workplace.

This is where CreativeMornings comes in. It’s an initiative ensuring that creative people are not only able to feel that sense of community on a regular basis but also have a place to share their ideas, network, and learn from each other’s stories. Coworking spaces, factories, design offices, and other varied and interesting places are opened up for creatives to come together and attend talks, offer and receive guidance, and expand their circles of friends and collaborators.

Founded in 2008 by entrepreneur and designer Tina Rothberg, CreativeMornings began in a Manhattan studio. The event was completely free, and creative people from a huge variety of vocations were able to attend. It was a huge success, with attendees coming away feeling inspired, appreciated, and with that sense of community that many had been missing.

After a company in Zurich insisted she come and deliver a CreativeMorning in their factory, and with chapters opening in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Rothberg realized she’d created a gift that needed to be shared with the world. Today, with more than 200 chapters worldwide, their monthly gatherings attract a combined 25,000 creatives every month and create spaces for innovation and innovative people to flourish.

Why You Should Consider Being a Guest on a Podcast
Being a guest on a podcast may sound incredibly niche, but it can be incredibly beneficial. There are now multiple different podcasts on any topic listened to around the world. Still not convinced? Here are some reasons to consider guesting on a podcast.

Automatically engaged audience. Listeners of a podcast are usually already geared up and ready to absorb whatever you’ve got to say, not to mention they’re usually highly targeted. Already, this is a great reason to give it a go.

Better than blogging. Blogging is a great form of content, but it’s very time-consuming. Podcasts are, for the most part, just talking, and if listeners want to find out more about you, they can do so via the show notes page.

High content production. Guesting on a podcast gives you access to a well-produced audio interview that you can use to promote yourself.

Cross amplification. Each time you guest on a podcast, you get to enjoy a mini launch that will give you ample content for social media. Plus, you’ll be posted on the social media of whichever podcast you’re guesting on, meaning even more reach.

Sales! Though it’s not wise to actively sell while guesting on a podcast, just by being a guest expert, telling your story, and giving guidance, your personal and business sales will go up just through reach alone.

Snowball effect. The more you guest, the more you’ll be asked to participate, which will lead to collaborating with some of the best in your field.

Define the relationship. When entering into business with anyone, it’s important to make sure you’re both clear on your business plan, your responsibilities, and what to do if the venture fails.
